TOWN OF KENSINGTON

BOARD OF SELECTMEN

KENSINGTON TOWN HALL

September 14, 2008

Approved 10/6/08

Sunday, Sept 14th at 3:30pm

In attendance were Stefanie Johnstone, Rich Powers, Mike Motherway and Dr. Karl Singer, Health Officer.

Mike Morrison of Municipal Pest Management had contacted the Selectmen over the weekend with information that mosquito pools were sent for testing to Concord on Friday with a large volume of melanura mosquitoes (the breed that carries EEE and carried the West Nile Virus that was positive a couple of weeks ago) that were trapped.  This concerned him to contact us for discussion on additional spraying since the Town had already had a positive mosquito for West Nile Virus a few weeks ago.  Spraying was done the last week of August and with the weather we have had it is now becoming ineffective.

A motion was made by Rich Powers to spray the Town Hall area, Kensington Elementary School and the Town Park with a second by Mike Motherway with all in favor.  Also, we will receive the results from Concord so proper information will be dispersed to the residents through a Town wide mailing and to the parents of children at the school.  The spraying will probably take place at the end of the week by the direction of Mike Morrison (weather will also play a factor).

Stefanie Johnstone will contact the principal in the morning since the SAU 16 has to consent before spraying at the school and will also prepare the letter once results from Concord are received for the Town wide mailing.

Meeting adjourned at 3:50pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Stefanie Johnstone

Board of Selectmen, Chairman
